Tournament rules

For the tournament to be a success, we need participants to abide by the tournament rules. We reserve the right to remove or exclude any participant from the tournament at any point if they fail to abide by the tournament rules. If at any point the rules are changed, an announcement will be posted in the News & Announcements forum. All participants will be expected to check up on and abide by rule updates.

General information

Seedings
Depending upon how many sign-up for the tournament, either the top 32 or 64 players will be seeded. Seedings will be determined by the power rating on the account you registered for the tournament with.

Key dates:
Sign-ups: 19th December - 6th January
Round 1: 6th January - 16th January
Round 2: 16th January - 26th January
Round 3: 26th January - 2nd February
Round 4: 2nd February - 9th February
Round 5: 9th February - 16th February
Round 6: 16th February - 23rd February
Round 7: 23rd February - 2nd March
Round 8: 2nd March - 9th March

Each round finishes at 23 GMT on the specified days. You must have played and posted your games by that time.

These dates may be subject to change if round extensions push other rounds back. In the event of changes to the round dates, an announcement will be posted in the News & Announcements forum.

Signing up for the tournament
Sign-ups are to be conducted via the sign-ups topic. You must sign-up for yourself if you are playing - you cannot sign-up another person.

Scheduling your games
All players will be required to schedule their games in our scheduling forums. Please read the scheduling guidelines topic that is pinned in each of the scheduling forums - it sets out the proper method for scheduling a game.

Playing your games
Each round you will be matched up against 1 opponent with whom you will need to play a best-of-3 series. This means that one of you will need to win 2 out of 3 games to progress to the next round.

Adherence to round dates
If you and your opponent fail to play any or all of your games, an administrative decision will be made as to who proceeds to the next round. This decision will be based upon who made the most effort to schedule and play the games.

Recorded games
All games must be recorded and posted in the Recorded Games forum. The winner must be the one to post the games.

Disputes
If you have any disputes, send a private message to [NerVe]_VipeR_ rather than post it in the forums.

Settings

Game version: AgeSanctuary Fan Patch 1.0. If AgeSanctuary Fan Patch 1.1 is released during the tournament, that will become the required game version for all remaining tournament games.
Civilization: Any.
Game type: Supremacy.
Map: Competitive maps.
Game rules: Standard.
Starting age: Discovery.
Game speed: Medium.
Free for all: Optional.
Handicap: None.
Record game: Yes.
Allow cheats: No.

Players without TWC content:

In the event that any of the two players in a match-up have just AoE3 and TAD installed (without TWC), then they must choose 'Standard Maps'.

Prizes

The prizes for the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament are as follows:

1st: US$300
2nd: US$150
3rd: US$50

Prizes will be distributed using Paypal. We accept no responsibility for any loss of funds in transfer. Funds can only be distributed using Paypal.

Players must claim their prize within 60 days of the conclusion of the tournament. Claiming of prizes is defined as having provided the site administration with their Paypal account details, and having then received the prize. The conclusion of the tournament is defined as the time at which the final tournament results are posted in the 'Site News and Rules' forum. If they have not claimed the prize within 60 days, their prize will be reintroduced to the tournament fund and will no longer be available to them.

Grounds for removal from tournament

- If you have been excluded from all AgeSanctuary tournaments previously, and we find you competing in the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament, you will be removed from the tournament.

- If you are banned from AgeSanctuary, and we find you competing in the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament, you will be removed from the tournament and once again banned from the site.

- If you get someone to log on to your account and play your games for you, both you and the person who logged on to your account to play the games in question will be removed from the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament.

- If you are found to be using any sort of cheat, you will be removed from the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament, excluded from all future AgeSanctuary tournaments, and banned from the site.

- If you are using more than 1 account to play in the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament, all of those accounts which you are playing under will be removed from the tournament.

- If you deliberately uninstall TWC so as to prevent your opponent from using a TWC civilization, you will be removed from the $500 Fan Patch 1.0 Tournament.

Does that mean, if you haven't played in any agesanctuary tournements, or if you were removed from them?

I don't agree about the top 32-64 players selection by pr . Do it with 1v1 elo or something, coz lot of people are decayed and still decent players and won't be able to join.

It would of been nice if u gave me the re that you had agreed to, rather than saying "brb" logging off making me wait 20 mins only to see you not come back online. Then see that youve posted the most pointless vod ever :( Honestly tho this doesnt show anything, nothing happens the entire game, then there is one fight and the game is over. Maybe it would of been better to play some re's and try to get a good vod :)

haha waow, no need for all theese flames sam, just a couple of buddies playing a bit of aoe.

Seeded players get preferential placement in the bracket. That way you don't have the #1 highest rated player coming up against the #4 highest rated player in round 2.

Say, does it matter if the game is rated or unrated? Obviously if it's unrated it'd just be FFA, no handicaps or cheats. Just wondering since it's not stated in the rules.

Not that I have had one, or if it will be important at all to me in all but the most weird case that I somehow match vs a PR 40, but what happens if someone has a clear map mistake, ie no gold mine or hunts?

It's competitive maps, so I don't think that should be much of a problem. Might happen once or twice though.

It is a tournament - thus competitive play comes before map screws.

If you get a map screw, you just have to play through it. No restarting the game unless both players agree.
